WPL 2027: All players retained & released by Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians finished the Women’s Premier League 2026 (WPL 2026) in fourth place.
After winning two of the first three editions of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians (MI) entered the WPL 2026 with high hopes. However, they failed totally on the field. MI-W only managed to win three games in the entire season.
As a result, they finished in fourth place and were knocked out of the race to the playoffs. That was the first time in four seasons that MI-W failed to make it to the playoffs of the WPL.
The preparation for the next season is on, and all five teams are working on the possible blueprint for the next season.
On September 28, teams also revealed the list of players they want to retain and release. The two-time champions also made some big calls and released six players. The WPL 2027 auction is scheduled for October 28 at Grand Hyatt Kochi.

Mumbai Indians have retained a total of 11 players from their 17-member squad for the WPL 2027. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side in the fifth edition, which will be played between 14 January and 7 February 2027.
The franchise has retained top players like Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, and Amelia Kerr. These three are among the top all-rounders in women’s cricket. Nicola Carey and Shabnim Ismail are the other two overseas players to be retained.
Among the Indian players, Amanjot Kaur, S. Sajana, and Vaishnavi Sharma feature in the retention list. The franchise will be looking for a backup keeper and openers during the WPL 2027 auction.

List of all players released by Mumbai Indians ahead of WPL 2027
The two-time champions have released six players and will enter the auction with a purse value of INR 5.75 crore. Milly Illingworth is one overseas cricketer to be released by the franchise, who was with the team for a price of INR 10 lakhs.
G Kamalini and Saika Ishaque were released, and the franchise added INR 50 and 80 lakhs, respectively. Triveni Vasistha (20 Lakhs), Kranthi Reddy (10 Lakhs), and Poonam Khemnar (10 Lakhs) were the other three released players.
