WTC Final 2023: Virat Kohli on verge of writing history against Australia
Virat Kohli has 8 hundred against Australia in Test cricket.
Team India will lock horns with Australia in the much-awaited clash of the final of the World Test Championship 2023. The match will take place at the Adelaide Oval between June 7 and 11. Both teams are ready for the huge clash and to become World Test champions. Team India played in the WTC final of the last edition as well but unfortunately ended on the losing side. New Zealand beat the Men in Blue in the final to win the inaugural edition.
That loss came under the leadership of Virat Kohli, and he will have another chance on his hand to complete that unfinished business against Australia. A lot will depend on how the former Indian captain performs in the upcoming final. His numbers against Australia are pretty good, and his current form suggests that he will be a big wicket for Australia in the final.
Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a huge landmark against Australia in International cricket
Virat Kohli has played 24 Tests against Australia in his career. He has scored a total of 1979 runs at an average of 48.26, including eight centuries and five half-centuries. His best score of 186 came in the final game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in India. In ODIs, he has faced Australia in 46 games, scoring 2172 runs at 52.97 and a strike rate of 95.34, with 8 centuries and 11 half-centuries. He also has 794 runs in 22 T20Is against the Aussies.
Overall, he has scored 4945 runs in 92 games across formats and is the second-highest scorer against the Men in Yellow in international cricket. He needs another 55 runs to complete the 5000-run mark against them. If he can do it in the WTC final at the Oval, he will become only the second player after Sachin Tendulkar to score 5000 or more international runs against Australia in history.
Sachin had 6707 runs (ODI + Test) against Australia in 110 games across formats. Virat is currently in red-hot form, which he showed in the recently concluded edition of the Indian Premier League. He smashed two consecutive centuries in the last two games and ended up scoring 639 runs in 14 innings at an average strike rate of 53.25 and 139.82. The former Indian captain will look to take this form into the WTC final and deliver a match-winning performance against one of his favorite oppositions.
