Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden fifty in the first innings of the 2nd Test vs West Indies in Trinidad.

It has been a fairytale of a debut series for Yashasvi Jaiswal against the West Indies so far. In two innings, he had made sure that he was getting a significant score. After winning the first game, Team India is looking good in the second game as well. The visitors finished Day 1 at 288/4 in 84 overs, and three of the Indian batters scored a half-century each.

The day started when the hosts decided to bowl after winning the toss. It didn't look like a good decision when India finished the first session without a wicket, adding 121 runs. Both Indian openers looked good once again and played their shots. They added back-to-back 100-run opening stands and made 139 runs for the first wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to get out. He scored 57 off 74 balls, hitting one six and nine fours.

"I’m disappointed"- Yashasvi Jaiswal on getting out after getting a good start in the 2nd Test vs WI

Jaiswal was looking good to get his second ton in his second test innings but got out playing a big shot off Jason Holder after the lunch break. Once the opening partnership was broken, India lost three more wickets. Shubman Gill (10) and Ajinkya Rahane (8) got out cheaply. Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was unlucky to miss a century and got out after scoring 80 runs, with nine boundaries and two maximums.

Jaiswal, who could have converted his fifty into another century, was disappointed to get. After the end of the first day, the left-hander opened up and said he always wanted to bat big and set the platform for the others. Yashasvi Jaiswal said, "Of course I’m disappointed, but it happens in cricket. I’ve to keep learning. Every time the desire is to ensure how well I can contribute. That’s the thought in every match – to set a good platform for the team. Whenever I bat, I always try to bat for long. There’s of course disappointment when we get out."

India lost four wickets in the second session, which pushed the visitors back. But Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja made sure that India weren't losing any further wickets. Both batters added an unbeaten fifth-wicket stand of 106 runs to see the day off. Virat scored his 30th fifty and is unbeaten on 87, while Jadeja supported him well with 36 not out.
