Yashasvi Jaiswal (953) has scored most runs in international cricket in 2024 so far.

Young left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has expressed his thoughts on not being part of the India’s playing XI during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. After performing well in the home five-match test series against England and Indian Premier League 2024, Jaiswal earned his maiden T20 World Cup call-up.

However, the Indian think tank went with veteran players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the first-choice openers throughout the whole tournament. Jaiswal was back-up opener in the squad, but didn’t get a chance to be a part of the playing XI.

After not featuring in the playing XI during the T20 World Cup 2024, Jaiswal played the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The 22-year-old batter also missed the first two matches of the Zimbabwe series as he was stuck in Barbados with the T20 World Cup-winning squad due to Hurricane Beryl.

I learned a lot and enjoyed the process of being part of the champion Indian team: Jaiswal

After the end of the fifth T20I match against Zimbabwe on July 14, Jaiswal interacted with fans at the Harare Sports Club.

In a latest video shared by the Indian cricket team on Instagram, Jaiswal expressed that he enjoyed being part of the T20 World Cup 2024-winning team. The 22-year-old expressed that he learned a lot there.

“I just enjoyed my process and being part of the champion Indian team. I learnt a lot, and I was really excited that whenever I got a chance, I would try my best. Make sure that I am contributing and winning the game for my team,” said the 22-year-old young Indian batting sensation.

We were thinking about how to finish the game: Jaiswal on his chat with Shubman Gill

During the fourth T20I match between India and Zimbabwe, Jaiswal scored 93*, which helped visitors win the match by 10 wickets on July 13. However, many cricket pundits criticized stand-in skipper Shubman Gill, who didn’t let his partner score a century.

After the conclusion of the fifth T20I, Jaiswal revealed the conversation he had with Gill during the fourth T20I match. Jaiswal said that they were thinking about how to finish the game without losing any wickets and not about any milestones.

“I really enjoyed playing today. It was an amazing experience with Shubman. Of course, whenever I play for India, I feel proud. We were thinking about how to finish the game and make sure to win it for the team. The only thought running through our mind was to get the game over with and win by no wickets lost,” Jaiswal said in a unique first which saw him take questions from the Harare crowd.
