After how many years has KL Rahul hit a test hundred at home?

KL Rahul scored 100 runs in the first innings of the Ahmedabad test against the West Indies.

Indian Cricket Team opener KL Rahul started the home season on a high as he slammed a magnificent ton in the ongoing first test against the West Indies Cricket Team. The match between the two teams is underway at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.   

KL Rahul, who opened the innings for India, looked in glorious touch right from the start as he took India off to a solid start with the bat. The premier batter continued his good form with the bat and hardly put a foot wrong in his innings, playing some sensational strokes.

KL Rahul first hit a solid fifty on day one and stayed unbeaten at stumps. The start of day two was all about him as he ensured that India got a first innings lead. He also added 98 runs for the third wicket with skipper Shubman Gill (50). 

After skipper Gill was back to the hut, Rahul took the onus to himself and slammed a sensational ton. This was his 11th hundred in the format and it came in 190 balls as he helped India get into a dominating position in the first innings.

This was KL Rahul’s second ton at home. He has been the crisis man for India in overseas conditions but wasn’t able to dominate in a similar fashion at home. He hit a century at home after nine long years, which comes as a massive surprise. 

Rahul’s last ton at home came against England in 2016 in Chennai. Opening the innings, he played a masterful innings of 199 runs off 311 balls. His innings during that game was laced by 16 boundaries and three sixes. It was the same game in which Karun Nair hit a triple ton. 

Rahul will now be keen to add more to his tally at home. In the first innings against West Indies, he hit 100 runs off 197 balls. He also hit 12 boundaries during his stay at the crease.
