Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 171 wickets in the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal had a poor game with the ball against Punjab Kings in Guwahati. Chahal conceded 50 runs in his 4 overs spell. Not often do we see him concede this much in T20s. He still has some positives to take home as well. Chahal with his one wicket has become the second leading wicket taker in the Indian Premier League. Before this game, Chahal equaled Rajasthan Royals bowling coach and former Mumbai Indians player Lasith Malinga. Chahal with his 4 wicket haul against Hyderabad had equaled Malinga’s number of 170.

Yuzvendra Chahal needs 13 more wickets to become all-time leading wicket taker in the IPL

Despite leaking runs continuously, Chahal picked up Jitesh Sharma’s wicket. Jitesh became Chahal’s 171st wicket in this league. Chahal took 133 games to overtake Lasith Malinga. Malinga in his 122 games, bagged 170 wickets in the league. Chahal will have an opportunity to become a leading wicket taker in the IPL as well. Currently, Dwayne Bravo is at the top with 183 wickets. Chahal requires 13 wickets to go past Dwayne Bravo to become all-time highest wicket-taker in the cash-rich T20 league. Chahal has been a wicket taking player for the Royals.

Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up 5 wickets so far in the IPL 2023. Chahal is Royals' key player and Sanju’s go to option whenever a wicket is required. Chahal will surely target Dwayne Bravo’s number 183. In IPL 2022, He won the purple cap and bagged 27 wickets in 17 games for Rajasthan. Along with Chahal, his Royals teammate R Ashwin is also chasing everyone on this list. Ashwin in his IPL Career has got 159 wickets so far. Only Amit Mishra, Yuzvendra Chahal, Lasith Malinga, and Dwayne Bravo are ahead of him.

Off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a good day with the ball. He bowled his 4 overs and gave away only 25 runs to pick up the wicket of Sikandar Raza. Jason Holder picked up 2 wickets in his 4 overs.
