Dani Alves set to become oldest Brazilian player to feature in FIFA World Cup

The 39-year-old was included in Brazil's 26-man squad
Brazil unveiled their 26-man World Cup roster ahead of the 2022 World Cup on Monday, and there were several surprises, such as Dani Alves getting called up for the World Cup and nine forwards being picked up, highlighting the strength of their team.
Many young players were also picked up and will have the potential to light up the World Cup with their performances. However, many familiar individuals were unable to join the squad. Which has raised concerns, and significant pressure will be placed on Title considering the magnitude of their squad.
Many supporters may be surprised by Dani Alves' participation, given the 39-year-old is well past his peak, but Tite believes Alves can still contribute on the field. Dani Alves will enter the World Cup as Brazil's oldest player, breaking the record held by Djalma Santos since 1966 as the tournament's oldest player at 37. Also, if Brazil manage to win the 2022 World Cup, the veteran right-back will also become the oldest player to lift the World Cup trophy.
Alves, who has played in three World Cups but could not compete in the 2018 World Cup owing to injury, has made 125 appearances for Brazil. The 39-year-old, who now plays for Puma after spending a season with Barcelona, understands why fans are dissatisfied with his selection.
Dani Alves on making the Brazil 26-man World Cup squad
He said, "I am not here to please everyone. We are here not to fail those who trust us."
Tite believes Alves is the most experienced player on the team and may support them mentally and be a tremendous booster in the locker room. "The Criteria for Dani Alves is recognizing individual skill, the physical and mental aspects."
Alves has won two Copa America and FIFA Confederation titles with Brazil. Also, the South Americans are a heavy contender to win the 2022 World Cup. They have been seeded in Group G featuring Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon.
The team will assemble in Turin, Italy, on November 14, before flying to Qatar five days later. Finally, on November 25, they will play Serbia in their first World Cup match.
