The Croatian captain has set yet another impressive milestone in world football

Croatia are up against Morocco in the group F encounter of the FIFA World Cup 2022. This will be the first time that these two teams will be playing against each other on the World Cup stage. The only match that they played was back in 1996 in which Croatia won on penalties.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists (Croatia) will look forward to starting off their campaign on a winning note. Today's game day is even more special for their skipper Luka Modric. The Croatian skipper will create a unique record today when he steps on the field. Luka Modric is the first player ever in football history to feature in World Cups and EURO Championships in three different decades.

Luka made his debut for the senior Croatian team in the year 2006 and this will be his 155th international appearance. Modric made his debut against Argentina and scored his first international goal in a friendly match against Italy.

Luka Modric was part of the team during the UEFA European Championship in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020, as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2006, 2014, and 2018. He became the only second Croatian to ever achieve this honor.

For Croatia's 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, Modrić became the new team captain, following Darijo Srna's retirement and he led his team to the finals of the FIFA World Cup in 2018 in which his team lost to France. Luka Modric won the Golden Boot Award' in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Croatia is placed in group F of the FIFA World Cup 2022 which has Belgium, Morocco and Canada. Apart from Morocco, all the other three teams in the group are tough opponents, especially Belgium. So, Croatia will be looking forward to having yet another successful campaign on football's grandest stage.
