A number of great transfers happened on the last day of the transfer window

The perfect addition in January has the potential to make or break a team's season, by propelling a club up the table or serving as the extra 10 per cent needed to get their squad across the line in knockout competitions. The January transfer window has become one of the season's great equalisers, with clubs having the perfect opportunity to bolster their squads ahead of the campaign's run-in. In some cases, it can completely change a club's season trajectory. The January transfer window is over and some clubs have made impressive signings in this window. This transfer window was full of chaos, some clubs also failed to get some of their targets.

Here are the top 10 best deals on the deadline day of the January transfer window:

10. Harry Souttar from Stoke City to Leicester City

Socceroos defender Harry Souttar is now Australia's most expensive football transfer after it was confirmed he is joining Premier League side Leicester City. Leicester have finalised the signing of Australian centre-back Harry Souttar from Stoke on a permanent deal. The 24-year-old returned from a serious knee injury only weeks before the World Cup but put in some excellent performances as Australia reached the knockout stages.

9. Diego Lorente from Leeds United to AS Roma

The Spain defender was an £18m signing for Leeds in the summer they secured promotion back to the Premier League. However, his form has dropped off over the past 12 months. And with Robin Koch preferred by Jesse Marsch this season, Llorente is no longer considered the first choice at Elland Road. And despite only signing a new three-and-a-half-year deal for Leeds in December, he has been granted permission to leave. They will pay an initial £1m to sign him on loan. That permanent option is reportedly in the region of £8m-£11m.

8. Keylor Navas from PSG to Nottingham Forest

Keylor Navas was a regular starter for Paris Saint-Germain for three seasons following his transfer from Real Madrid in 2019, but the Costa Rica international has not been the first choice under PSG boss Philippe Gautier. With the 36-year-old keen to play first-team football, he has decided to join Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper has not played for the French club in the league this season with Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma holding down the No. 1 spot.

7. Hector Bellerin from Barcelona to Sporting CP

Full-back Hector Bellerin has joined Sporting CP until the end of the season from Barcelona. The former Spanish international was signed by Barca in the summer but made just three LaLiga appearances for the club in the first half of the season. Sporting Lisbon has officially announced the transfer of Hector Bellerin on a permanent move from Barcelona. While Barcelona was not able to sign anyone for the first team due to financial constrictions, they have managed to offload another player.

6. Pedro Porro from Sporting CP to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have signed full-back Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy for 45m euros (£40m). Antonio Conte, the Spurs manager, had identified the right wing-back whom he most wanted to upgrade and the club have cleared the decks for Porro’s arrival by terminating Matt Doherty’s contract.

5. Thorgan Hazard from Dortmund to PSV

Belgium winger Thorgan Hazard has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan for the rest of the season from Borussia Dortmund. The 29-year-old made 21 appearances for Dortmund this season but has struggled to find the net, having scored only one goal. The signing will be seen as a boost with PSV struggling to recruit replacements for Gakpo and Madueke who have both played a crucial role for Van Nistelrooy’s side for the first half of the season.

4. Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich to United

Sabitzer joined Manchester United on loan from Bayern Munich

Man Utd's need for a midfielder intensified after Christian Eriksen was ruled out until at least April. Manchester United have signed midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season, the clubs announced Tuesday. There is no option to buy Austrian international. Predominantly a central midfielder, the 28-year-old has also played as a defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, second striker and winger during his career.

3. Jorginho from Chelsea to Arsenal

Arsenal has signed Italy midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea in a £12m deal. The 31-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2018, was in the last six months of his Blues' contract. The Gunners turned their attention to Jorginho after having two bids rejected by Brighton for Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo. The Italy international has been a stalwart in the heart of the Blues' midfield, winning several trophies as well as some individual awards for his own performances. Jorginho becomes Arsenal's third signing of the January window.

2. Joao Cancelo from Manchester City to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich has signed Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo on loan with an option to make the transfer permanent this summer for €70 million. The 28-year-old was a regular in Pep Guardiola's team at the beginning of the season but has started just five of the past 14 games in all competitions. A dip in form also saw him lose his place for Portugal during the World Cup in Qatar. As per reports Cancelo and Guardiola's relationship breakdown caused this transfer to take place.

1. Enzo Fernandez from Benfica to Chelsea

Chelsea’s staggering spending spree continued when they broke the British transfer record to sign Enzo Fernández for €121m (£106.8m) after a frenzied day of negotiations with Benfica. The 22-year-old, who only joined Benfica last summer for around £10m, has signed an eight-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge to keep him at the club until the summer of 2031. He has become the most expensive Argentine signing in the World.
