Ratings: Victor Rodriguez stars in Odisha FC's Aizawl triumph
Aizawl FC are out of the competition after this result.
Aizawl FC faced Odisha FC in a critical Group B match where a result for either side was needed to keep their semi-finals dreams intact. At the end, it were Odisha FC who emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3-0 to their opponents from Mizoram.
Here are the player ratings for both the teams.
Aizawl FC
Hriatpuia - 7
Flawless, finicky, feisty. Put glove to ball on almost everything that came his way. Saved a penalty from Odisha FC's Diego Mauricio.
Kimkima - 6
Solid in the defence and choked critical runs from Diego and Victor Rodriguez.
Eisuke Mohri - 8
The definition of a box-to-box midfielder and some more. Was relentless in defence and latched on to the limited opportunities on the attack. Easily the brightest star for Aizawl FC.
Ivan Veras - 4
Mostly invisible during the match since there were no supplies on to his way.
Sailo - 7
Accurate with set pieces, nearly got an Olympic goal against his name. Could have had an assist had Hruiatlunga not missed.
Hruiatlunga - 3
Missed out a clear goal-scoring opportunity that could have put Aizawl FC forward.
Akito Saito - 5
Akito didn't defend his territory well on the right, allowing Odisha FC to capitalize on their left flank.
Zodingliana Ralte - 5
Not a memorable outing for him, as he was admittedly baffled by the attacking midfielders and forwards of Odisha FC.
Lalrinfela - 5
Barring the few occasions where he was involved in build-up play with his teammates, there was no noticeable impact from the Aizawl FC player.
Lalthanmawia - 5
Decent on the set-pieces and was a good watch with all the space he got on the left flank.
Substitutes
Lalramsanga – 4
Conceded a goal and a penalty after he came on.
Lalhansanga – 5
Could have been more clinical up the pitch.
Augustine Lalrochana – 5
Not many attacks from the flanks after he came on.
Emmanuel Makinde – 4
Team expected more from the Nigerian defender but he failed to impress.
Lalhmangaihkima – N/A
Didn’t get much time to make his mark in the match.
Odisha FC
Lalthuammawia Ralte - 7
Didn't face much heat between the posts other than a few set-pieces.
Narender Gahlot - 5
Akin to the previous game, gave away possession to Aizawl FC at dangerous positions.
Thoiba Singh - 5
Poor ball awareness and clearly misfits in the centre-back position.
Denechandra Meitei - 7
Effective as a wing-back, good on the overlapping runs, but could have been more clinical with clearances and distribution.
Aniket Jadhav - 9
The Man of the Match. Playing seemingly as a right-wing-back for probably the first time in his career, impressed one and all. Assisted one and pre-assisted one with decisive clearances at his unconventional position.
Isak Ralte - 8
Created numerous chances and was a constant threat in the box for the Aizawl FC defence. Unfortunate to be subbed off after injury.
Princeton Rebello - 6
Tried a bit too hard to impress but seemed to miss a beat playing as a defensive midfielder.
Paul Ramfangzauva - 6
Lost possession a few too many times. Although maintained a clean sheet, he could have been more clinical with his control on the ball.
Victor Rodriguez - 8
Brought his A game and justified his role as a playmaker. Scored a beautiful goal inside the box beating three defenders with his deft footwork.
Diego Mauricio - 7
Missed out on converting the penalty in the dying stages and as a result failed to enhance the goal difference in the table. However, he did manage to put the ball into the back of the net from a clumsy looking setup.
Jerry Mawihmingthanga - 7
The right flank was secured because of his contributions and he didn't let the Aizawl FC defence overpower him.
Substitutes
Nandhakumar Sekar - 8
Came on as a late substitute in place of Isak Ralte and scored a comfortable goal from a rebound opportunity.
Akshunna Tyagi – 6
Playing in the midfield, Akshunna had decent possession of the ball during his time on the pitch.
Isaac Vanmalsawma – 6
Like for like replacement for Victor and was prompt at creating opportunities in the final third.
Raynier Fernandes – 6
Played in a more advanced position as opposed to the role played by Princeton whom he replaced.
Michael Soosairaj – 7
Livewire on the field and was effortless manoeuvring through the left midfield and defence, creating chances with Nandha and Denechandra.
