The Brazilian forward explained how Carles Cuadrat will help East Bengal.

It's a moment of reunion between East Bengal's star forward Cleiton Silva and their new head coach Carles Cuadrat. Silva, who scored 12 goals in the recently concluded edition of the Indian Super League will now be working in unison with his former mentor Carles Cuadrat, under whom he plied his trade at Bengaluru FC.

Cleiton Silva on Carles Cuadrat's appointment

"East Bengal FC will benefit immensely from Coach Cuadrat’s experience. He has been very successful in India and has a lot of experience about how football is played here," Cleiton Silva told Khel Now, when asked how East Bengal will benefit from this major appointment.

The Red & Golds were reportedly linked to Sergio Lobera and were desperate to land the deal. Although Lobera received a NOC from his previous club Sichuan Jiuniu, the deal ultimately didn't happen and East Bengal had to turn their focus towards bagging the services of Cuadrat, who as per Khel Now's sources, was always a backup to Lobera.

Cleiton Silva said further on Cuadrat's appointment, "He’s the best candidate for the role. He also has a good relationship with the Indian players. He knows how to develop young players."

Challenge for Cuadrat at East Bengal

At Bengaluru FC, Cuadrat was a proven champion. He lifted the ISL 2018-19 trophy with the Blues and worked pretty well with the youngsters at his disposal. However, in 2021, after a series of bad results, the manager had to step down from his role at Bengaluru FC. He was recently working at FC Midtjylland, but was always keen to head back to India.

Cuadrat now has a new challenge, and that is to rejuvenate East Bengal, who have been going through tough patches ever since joining the ISL back in 2020.
