Arsenal leapfrog Newcastle United in race to sign Arda Guler
The Turkish youngster is emerging as a top prospect in Europe
Arsenal reportedly 'leapfrog' Newcastle United in their attempt to sign Fenerbahce prodigy Arda Guler, who is additionally coveted by Liverpool.
The 18-year-old signed for Fenerbahce in 2019, and during the previous two seasons, he has had a significant influence on the Turkish team at the senior level.
In 35 appearances for Fenerbahce in all competitions in 2022–23, the dynamic forward scored six goals and provided seven assists.
He has played 51 times for the Super Lig team and contributed 21 goals overall. He has also been given four Turkey caps.
Because of the termination provision in his deal, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano stated a few days ago that "Guler will now be accessible for only €17.5 million net after taxes and solidarity".
According to him, "many clubs" are "trying to convince" the player to quit Fenerbahce and sign with them.
The Gunners have reportedly taken the upper hand over the Magpies in the fight to acquire the Fenerbahce sensation," according to Football Insider.
Arda Guler, called the "Turkish Messi," is said to have Arsenal as his "most attracted English club."
The Premier League powerhouses are seriously examining a deal' for Guler, but the rumour suggests they are up against competition from FC Barcelona and Ajax.
But given that he is "on the radar" of "Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain," this might be challenging.
Arda Guler could be a cheap addition to Arsenal's roster relative to certain of their other targets, such as Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz.
Although Rice is reportedly their top target, Manchester City are also thinking about signing the England international.
In light of the fact that West Ham are anticipating new offers from their Premier League opponents, Romano is saying that the race is still open" for the midfielder.
