Jesse Lingard waiting to pick the 'right team' with move to Saudi Arabia possible
The 30-year-old won two major titles with Manchester United
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Jesse Lingard has revealed a few details about his future. The England international left Manchester United after failing to get enough minutes on the pitch and joined Nottingham Forest last season.
Now the former United youth academy player has become a free agent following the expiration of his 2022-23 contract and the club has shown no signs of retaining him which could force the player to look for other clubs.
Lingard revealed that he is open to a move to any team. He said, "I’ve never ruled any team out, any club out, so for me it’s picking the right team. It’s got to be right for me. I just want to play football at the end of the day."
The Englishman is also linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. He commented, "Saudi Arabia are doing big things. In the next year or so, the next couple of years, it will be one of the hot spots to go to."
"I'm not really surprised the big names are moving out there. So it's something I'm going to consider as well."
An ample of big players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, and a few others have already joined hosts of Saudi clubs and Jesse Lingard could be another big name to join the league. Having played more than 150 Premier League games, Lingard carries a lot of experience. He even scored a goal in the winning goal in the FA Cup final.
Jesse Lingard further added, "The project has got to be well-suited for me. The team’s got to be good and in the right direction. Literally, it’s just regular game time. I’m still hungry, I’m working hard and I’m going to be ready when called upon."
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder left the Red Devils after 11 seasons. He spent five loan spells (Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton, Derby County, and West Ham United) during his time in Manchester. Lingard won a FA Cup and UEFA Europa League with United.
