Top five players with most chances created in Premier League 2022-23 season

These playmakers were crucial to their respective clubs in the top division.

It takes a special ability to create scoring opportunities and requires an imagination like no other. It is not easy to unlock tight defences, identify space and execute the perfect pass that puts the striker or a fellow teammate in a scoring position. Therefore, midfielders who create numerous amounts of scoring chances for the team are extremely valuable to a football club.

In the 2022-23 season of the Premier League, some of the playmakers were in exceptional form. They went on to create a lot of scoring chances for their teammates across the campaign, helping them score buckets of goals and collecting assists in the process. These players showcased incredible vision, passing ability and confidence that can cause any defence a world of trouble.

Looking back at the highly entertaining 2022-23 season of the Premier League, here are the top five players who created the most scoring chances for their respective clubs:

Martin Odegaard - 76

Martin Odegaard was one of the players who played a key role in helping Arsenal make a title charge. The skipper of the Gunners led by example, scoring 15 goals and making seven assists during the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

He created 76 scoring chances across the campaign and truly became a fan favourite in the process. It was unlucky that Odegaard could not lift the league title despite his incredible individual performance.

Pascal Groß - 80

Brighton & Hove Albion were the surprise package during the last Premier League campaign. The outfit finished and secured qualification into the next season’s UEFA Europa League. One of the main reasons behind their success was Pascal Groß and his form throughout the season.

The midfielder created 80 scoring chances for his team during the 2022-23 campaign. He scored nine goals and made eight assists in the process of helping the Seagulls secure European qualification.

Kevin De Bruyne - 98

Kevin De Bruyne was outstanding as ever in the process of helping Manchester City win the 2022-23 Premier League, their third in a row. The Belgian international created 98 chances as the Cityzens bulldozed their way to a ninth league win in their history.

In addition to creating scoring chances, Kevin De Bruyne had 23 goal contributions, scoring seven goals and making 16 assists (the most in the division by an individual player).  

Kieran Trippier - 110

Kieran Trippier was one of the factors behind Newcastle United’s fourth-place finish in the 2022-23 Premier League table. The full-back created a whopping 110 scoring chances for his teammates, being only the second player in the top division to surpass the century mark.

Kieran Trippier scored once in addition to making seven assists for Newcastle United. Impressively, he created 24 big chances despite playing as a full-back which certainly sheds further light on his playmaking abilities.

Bruno Fernandes - 119

Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United created the most number of scoring chances for an individual player in the Premier League. The 28-year-old made 119 scoring chances for his teammates and finished with eight goals and eight assists. 

He was essential to the Red Devils finishing in third place and led the team as captain for the major part of the campaign. The attacking midfielder also scored eight goals and made eight assists in a low-scoring season for Manchester United. Furthermore, Fernandes made 32 big chances during the campaign.
