East Bengal announce Carles Cuadrat's backroom coaching staff

Carles Cuadrat and his personnel are expected to arrive in Kolkata after resolving their visa issues.
East Bengal have officially announced the coaching staff for Carles Cuadrat ahead of his arrival in Kolkata to take the helm of the club for the first time later this year. The ex-Bengaluru FC manager is expected to fly in soon and start pre-season training to prepare his side for the 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) season.
East Bengal’s new backroom staff revealed
But before that, Cuadrat has chosen the coaching staff that will help him implement his style and major changes at the club. The Red & Gold Brigade have announced the arrival of goalkeeping coach Francisco Javier Pinillos, Sports Scientist Albert Martinez Bernat and Physiotherapist Senen Fernandez Alvarez to the club.
Pinillos will be working closely with the goalkeeping department at East Bengal to help improve the likes of Kamaljit Singh, Pawan Kumar and more. Bernat, who will be linking up with Cuadrat for the first time – will be fulfilling his duties of a sports scientist which includes dictating the workload for training sessions, analyzing players’ progress and more.
Alvarez will also have a tough job in his hands to keep the East Bengal squad fully fit and at their 100% in the gruelling campaign ahead. With the ISL likely to collide with the Federation Cup as well in the upcoming season and the Durand Cup narrowing down the amount of time for the 2023-24 season, it’ll be a tough ask for Alvarez to work his magic on the players’ fitness.
New coaches’ connections with Carles Cuadrat
Cuadrat, of course, has worked with a few of these coaches in the past. Pinillos and Alvarez worked with him during his stint as the Bengaluru FC head coach during 2018-21. The two were also involved in the Blues’ ISL title win in the 2018-19 season and are well aware of what is needed to thrive in the Indian Football calendar.
The new East Bengal boss appears to be ramping up on quality options in his backroom staff to tackle the season ahead. He has already welcomed former Bengaluru FC midfielder Dimas Delgado to be his assistant coach and help him in implementing major changes at the Kolkata club.
East Bengal have also been working hard behind the scenes in the summer transfer window to rope in quality options for their new manager. They’ve already roped in quality new foreign players like Saul Crespo, Borja Herrera and Javier Siverio to bolster their squad – while also signing quality Indian players like Nandhakumar Sekar, Nishu Kumar, Edwin Vanspaul, Harmanjot Khabra and Mandar Rao Dessai.
