The player resides from a small town in Manipur.

Indian international Jeakson Singh took to twitter on the 20th of July, to express how he feels about the recent acts of violence that has been prevailing over his state for the past few months.

Manipur - a beautiful state in the Northeast of India has been witnessing a series of simmering conflicts, which started in the month of May over tribal disparity, and opposing interests.

It all started when the Manipur High Court ordered the state government to recommend to the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry by May 29, an ST tag for the Meitei community.

This decision by the court, added with the eviction drive, which began in February, resulted in widespread discontent in a number of tribal communities.

These various reasons have all subjected to mass violence inside the state, among the various tribal communities, and have resulted in the demise and displacement of a number of individuals.

With such a fragile and alarming situation prevailing over the state, Indian international and Kerala Blasters midfielder Jeaskson Singh, took it to twitter, and expressed his sorrow regarding all the recent activities that have been taking place in Manipur.

“My heart aches for the recent incidents in Manipur. Our vibrant culture has always been rooted in love, harmony, and respect for women and one another. The violence we've witnessed goes against the very fabric of who we are as a community,” the tweet mentioned.

The 22-year-old also wrapped himself in a Meitei flag a few days ago, when India defeated Kuwait in the SAFF Championship final. This act by the young lad created a flutter, as the FIFA rules states that no team can use any political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images on team equipment.

Defending his actions, Jeaskon made a tweet that night.

“Dear Fans, By celebrating in the flag, I did not want to hurt the sentiments of anyone. I intended to bring notice to the issues that my home State, Manipur, is facing currently. This win tonight is dedicated to all the Indians,” he tweeted.
