Chelsea join race to sign Japanese exciting prospect Keisuke Goto

18-year-old Japanese wonderkid has been making waves in the J2 league

Learning from their mistakes with players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Chelsea have constantly been pursuing younger talents so as to not splurge on quality players in the future. Their interest in younger player is proved by their insistence to not let Kai Havertz go, and with Mason Mount leaving, The Blues need more players to take up attacking positions, players who can stay at Stamford Bridge for long.

Keisuke Goto has been making waves playing for J2 league side Jubilio Iwata, the striker has made 22 appearances for them in which he has scored 7 goals, Stats impressive for an 18-year-old.

The Premier League teams have been paying attention to talent coming out of Japan, especially after the success of Kaoru Mitoma, who made waves playing in Japan, and got picked up to play for Brighton Hove and Albion, where he’s had a defining role to play.

It has been reported that a lot of clubs have shown interested in the 18-year-old Japanese, including a lot of European clubs like West Ham United, Ajax, Feyenoord and Sevilla and of course, Chelsea.

What will Keisuke Goto add to the Chelsea front line?

Keisuke Goto has a lot of attributes which make him desirable for Chelsea. For starters, he is a striker. After the leaving of attacking midfielders like Kai Havertz and Mason Mount, The Blues need someone who can be assertive near the opposition goalpost.

On top of that, he has the physical attributes to be a dominating forward. Keisuke Goto is 6ft and 3in tall, and just like his Japanese counterpart Kaoru Mitoma, he is fast.

Goto was close to featuring for Japan in the World U20 Championship, however an injury in the last moment made him miss out.
