Inter Miami buy international roster slot from San Jose Earthquakes

This could help the club sign another former teammate of Lionel Messi such as Suarez and Iniesta
After purchasing an international roster spot from the San Jose Earthquakes, Inter Miami might be getting closer to recruiting Luis Suarez.
The MLS team said on Sunday that it had paid the San Jose Earthquakes $150,000 in General Allocation Money, cash each club obtains to use for player moves or salary, to acquire an extra international spot.
Teams in the MLS are allotted a predetermined amount of slots for international players, although they are also free to trade with other teams in exchange for cash.
As they pursued former Barcelona and Liverpool player Suarez, Inter Miami was forced to purchase another spot after having already surrendered all of their existing ones.
The Florida squad is attempting to reconnect the 36-year-old with Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Lionel Messi, three of his former teammates. Miami has also been heavily connected to Andres Iniesta, but in order to add a fifth Barcelona icon to their roster, they would need to buy another international space.
Suarez's transfer to the MLS squad is anticipated to be completed soon, but for the time being, Messi and company are focused on their Leagues Cup match on Wednesday against Atlanta United.
The 2022 World Cup champion's long-awaited Miami debut was eventually witnessed by the crowd, and it did not disappoint as the former Barcelona player entered the match as a substitute with Cruz and Inter Miami knotted at 1-1.
When Messi was fouled in the final minute of play close to the penalty area, hopes were resurrected. The Argentine striker took the free kick, stepped up, and curled the ball into the goal to give the USA-based club their first victory in 11 games.
