Al-Ahli are newly promoted team to Saudi Pro League first division

Marcos Llorente (28), who is under agreement with Atletico Madrid through 2027, is wanted by the Jeddah-based club Al-Ahli.

In fact, the Spanish international midfielder ought to negotiate a three-year contract with Al-Raqi (the classy in Arabic and Al-Ahli’s nickname).

The royal club will write a cheque for 20 million euros in order to release the player from the final four years of his agreement with the Colchoneros.

After Mahrez (€35 million) and ASM (€27.2 million), it will only be the third-largest transfer for the promotion. Another successful attempt for the SPL, which is still having a chaotic summer transfer season.

After recruiting Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, Roberto Firmino, and most recently Allan Saint-Maximin, Al-Ahli, who recently gained promotion to the Saudi Pro League after winning the league’s second division, resumes its illustrious transfer window.

Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, and Jordan Henderson already made the move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, following Cristiano Ronaldo, who did so in the midst of the previous campaign.

Llorente used to be a mainstay in Diego Simeone’s starting lineup. Still, his significance to the team began to decline once the club recruited Rodrigo de Paul and sought to adopt a more possession-focused strategy.

When Atlético lacked a right defender, he also filled in there, but Llorente’s prospects have been further hampered by the addition of Nahuel Molina and his subsequent emergence as the starting defender.

With Joao Felix still looking for a new club, Atlético still has many transfer dilemmas that need to be resolved. Alvaro Morata and Yannick Carrasco have been mentioned as potential candidates for moves abroad.

On Monday, August 14, at home against recently promoted Granada, their La Liga season will get underway. After that, they have games against Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla, and Valencia, and Simeone undoubtedly wants a stable lineup for those contests.

Llorente tallied 12 La Liga goals as Atlético claimed the championship during his best campaign with the team. He was essential to the team’s success and started 33 games. After making just 21 starts the year before, he made one start last season and managed one goal.
