Amara Nallo: Profile, playing style, scouting report
The Hammers see another academy player depart in this transfer window
Liverpool FC have signed 16-year-old Amara Nallo from West Ham United. Like Trey Nyoni from Leicester City, the club has paid a significant transfer fee to complete the move of the 16-year-old defender. Nallo is swapping London for Merseyside just months after he signed a scholarship with the Hammers.
Early life and beginnings in football
West Ham is known as The Academy of Football because they produce young wonderkids who go on to represent big clubs. The Hammers produced another top talent, which was snatched away by their Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The 16-year-old England defender started his playing career at West Ham Academy and has represented the U-18 side of the club. Nallo was among the 12 academy talents who signed scholarship deals at West Ham in May this year. He was about to get a professional contract in November when he would have turned 17.
The post-Brexit era has allowed clubs to sign young talents from England because they can’t sign overseas youngsters before they turn 18. He is another academy player like Declan Rice to come out and sign for a big club.
Nallo has been given a chance by Liverpool as they regard him as a young player coming up to play professionally soon. The 16-year-old has a lot of potential in him, which was hailed by Liverpool’s academy coaches as well.

Player history
From a tender age, Nallo was drawn to the beautiful game of football and joined West Ham Academy, a club that has produced numerous young football talents.
After showing progress in the youth ranks, Cortes got his break recently when he made a U18 appearance for the club. Since then, he has been regarded as one of the defenders to come and shock the world. His talent has been recognised by the legendary Carlton Cole; he has been praised by him publicly, which means that the young talent has a lot of potential in him.
He has been given the number 5 shirt at Liverpool and will get to work with Jurgen Klopp and maybe make his senior debut appearance this season.
Playing style of Amara Nallo
Liverpool’s defence has been subject to criticism amid claims that it’s the weakest area in the squad because they were below par last season, which led to missing out on a Champions League spot this season. The youngster is described as a “Rolls Royce” of a centre-back.
He has a great left foot and is elegant when he moves with the ball. He can play the ball with both feet and has been working on his heading as well. He’s a player who has a high ceiling. He is just like Josko Gvardiol, who was signed by City this season. Gvardiol also came from the academy and impressed everybody at the World Cup and then at Leipzig. Nallo can play like him if he adds some strength and conditioning to his game, and there’s no doubt he can be a good young defender.
Nallo’s rise to prominence can be remarkable looking at the future; his game looks bright, and maybe he will become another youngster like Lamine Yamal to become the youngest player to ever play in the Premier League.
