Arsenal plan on hijacking Manchester United's deal for Benjamin Pavard
The French full-back is keen on leaving Bayern Munich
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal are looking to fight with Manchester United’s acquisition of Benjamin Pavard.
The Gunners stated on Wednesday that recent acquisition Jurrien Timber will be out for an extended period of time due to anterior cruciate ligament damage.
The Dutch defender, who only recently made the £34.3 million switch from Ajax to the club, hobbled off on his debut in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest on Saturday after an intense assault on Brennan Johnson.
In a statement, Arsenal said on the matter: “Jurrien will undergo surgery in the coming days and will be out of action for a period of time. The support and expertise from our medical team and everyone at the club will now be focussed on Jurrien’s rehabilitation programme, to ensure he recovers well and is back playing as soon as possible.”

Despite the fact that United had coveted the defender all summer, Arsenal bought Timber during this transfer window.
Additionally, instead of the Dutchman, Arsenal might try to sign France’s World Cup champion Pavard, depriving United of another target.
Following the anticipated departure of Harry Maguire, United supposedly targeted Pavard as an option and sought to sign the Bayern Munich defender.
However, the proposed transfer of the England international to West Ham fell through as the club got impatient expecting for the player to agree to leave United.
Although Maguire and West Ham had reached a personal agreement, the club had been expecting the player to accept payment from United.
The 30-year-old was making less money at West Ham before getting a pay rise as a result of United’s Champions League qualification. According to the Guardian, Maguire wishes to depart Old Trafford for roughly £7 million.
