Carney Chukwuemeka undergoes surgery on left knee; out for 6-weeks
He was signed from Aston Villa on a six-year contract.
Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka sustained an injury to his left knee during Chelsea’s second Premier league game against West Ham United at the London stadium. Carney scored the equaliser for Chelsea after which he was subbed off during half time, the game ended in a 3-1 loss for Chelsea.
Chelsea have released an update on his injury. They have informed that he has already undergone surgery to the injured knee and will be in rehabilitation at Cobham (Chelsea’s training ground). He is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.
Carney Chukwuemeka was an important signing for Mauricio Pochettino this summer, when he signed the youth international from Aston Villa on a six-year contract.

Before moving to Stamford bridge, Carney Chukwuemeka showed huge potential in the one season he played for Aston Villa, in the transfer window, quite a few Premier League clubs were looking to sign him.
The 19-year-old put out an Instagram post saying. –
“From Joy to Pain within minutes… My first goal for Chelsea. A moment I’ve prayed so hard for and dreamt of since I was a kid…,” Chukwuemeka said on Instagram.
“Minor setback but I will be back stronger than ever. Thank you Chelsea fans for your love and support. See you soon.”
Chelsea were focused on upgrading their midfield in this transfer window especially after Mason Mount and Kai Havertz left for Manchester United and Arsenal respectively, Carney Chukwuemeka was huge part of their midfield rebuild and manger Mauricio Pochettino showed huge confidence in the youngsters ability before bringing him to Stamford bridge.
His confidence seemed to pay off when Carney scored an important equaliser before half time. However, the sight of him hobbling of the field at half time must have been worrying for Pochettino.
It remains to be seen how Chelsea will lineup after losing Carney Chukwuemeka for alteast 4-6 weeks.
