It still feels surreal to associate the England captain with a team other than Spurs
The England captain finally moved away from Tottenham. Last Saturday marked the official announcement of Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich. The German Giants got their long-awaited summer move for around €100 million initially plus further add-ons. Bayern were so sure about the player and his character suiting what the club needed that it took them great perseverance to pull the move from a tenacious Daniel Levy. Levy is the long-standing chairman of Tottenham Hotspur.
Getting to know the English Striker a bit
Harry Kane’s journey began from the turfs of London’s Ridgeway Rovers. Later he had glimpses of training in the youth systems of Arsenal and Watford. Eventually, Kane found his true home at Tottenham Hotspur‘s academy in 2004. He continued his commitment by signing his first professional contract in July 2010. Though his ascent into the limelight began in 2011. The Spurs legend was able to appear competitively 435 times for Spurs, wherein he astonishingly netted the ball 280 times. This is an unrivalled feat that crowns him as the club’s all-time top scorer.
The Premier League stage has witnessed Kane’s bagging in the Golden Boot thrice, notably in 2016, 2017 and 2021. In the history of the league, he stands second only to Alan Shearer in terms of goals scored overall. Beyond the club sphere, Kane shoulders the armband for England, amassing 58 goals in 84 international matches. This record holds him high as the nation’s supreme goal-getter. His ‘top’ moment arrived on the global stage when he clinched the Golden Boot at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Amidst accolades and awards, one jewel always remained absent from his cabinet – a major trophy. As his voyage now leads him to Bayern Munich, a club that he now calls home that dream could foster a reality.

Why Bayern were ‘actually’ desperate about Harry Kane
Central to the anticipation surrounding Kane’s arrival at Bayern was the prospect of his partnership with lethal wingers like Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. These players are known for their pace and skill on the flanks and are known to dazzle. But that’s just not it, they are capable of way more. In the last season alone, Sané scored 14 goals while also providing 10 assists. Similarly, Coman and Gnabry racked in another 26 goals plus 19 assists combined. The wingers that Bayern have are equally capable of finishing and providing assists. And with Kane at the helm, both are expected to rise.
The synergy between a clinical striker like Kane and dynamic wingers like Sané and others could herald a new era of attacking prowess for the Bavarian giants. Kane’s intelligent movement and instinct for goal-scoring positions could serve as a catalyst for blistering runs down the wings by Sané and co. The mere presence of a striker who commands attention from defenders can create spaces for wingers to exploit, ultimately leading to increased scoring opportunities. And since Bayern wingers are actually capable of netting goals, it will be worth it.
Furthermore, Kane’s remarkable hold-up play and ability to bring teammates into the game could breathe new life into Bayern’s attacking maneuvers. Players like Sané, Coman and Gnabry thrive on rapid transitions and penetrating runs and could find in Kane a reliable pivot to initiate attacks. We have already witnessed it yesterday in the Bundesliga opener when Kane’s first touch pass opened up Sané to run at the goalkeeper of Werder Bremen and finally finish.
Even attacking midfielders Jamal Musiala and club legend Thomas Müller will thrive with Kane as their number 9. Last season they lacked a true spearhead in attack who could finish the chances that they create. Kane will now gladfully fill in the void left that’s been there since Robert Lewandowski moved to FC Barcelona in Spain. Kane’s capacity to link play and distribute the ball effectively can elevate the team’s offensive fluidity, granting wingers and others the platform to showcase their talents plus add to the score charts one way or another.
Beyond his on-field attributes, Kane’s work ethic and leadership qualities can galvanize the entire squad. He is England national football team’s captain for a reason folks. Also, his relentless commitment to both offensive and defensive duties sets a standard of dedication that can inspire wingers and teammates alike. Such an influence can foster a sense of unity and shared purpose, essential elements for any successful team striving for glory on multiple fronts.
