Kylian Mbappe set to miss PSG’s season opener; continues to train with transfer-listed players

The French forward’s contract ends next summer.
Kylian Mbappe is set to miss out PSG’s season opener against FC Lorient at the Parc de Princes. Luis Enrique’s side are hoping to create fan pressure on the striker so that he doesn’t leave on a free transfer next year.
Mbappe’s contract runs out at the end of the coming season. He has been long linked to a move to Real Madrid, if he leaves at the end of the next season, he will leave on a free transfer. So, PSG are adamant that he leaves this season, as this transfer window might be the last realistic chance PSG may have to sell the striker and make some profit.

Kylian Mbappe came to Paris from fellow Ligue 1 side FC Monaco for a word record fee of €180m in 2017. Reports suggest that PSG are expecting to sell Mbappe for at least €200m in hopes of making profit. PSG boss Nasser-Al- Khellafi and manager Luis Enrique have repeatedly stated that they do not want to lose the best player in the world for free.
Kylian Mbappe was left out of PSG’s preseason tour of Japan and has been out of training with the main team and has been seen training with transfer listed players.
On one hand, Kylian Mbappe has said he will honor his contract at PSG and will continue for a last season. However, PSG are adamant to not lose him on a free transfer. And after being left out of PSG’s pre-season tour and main training, and most importantly with reports suggesting that he is almost more than likely to not feature in PSG’s opening game of the season, it is clear that PSG have exhausted all efforts to keep him, and now have gone into overdrive in their trials to make sure that his departure is not a loss making affair.
