Lionel Messi had Barca jersey in his room during Copa America 2021 during contract renewal talks, reveals Sergio Aguero

It marks two years since the World Cup winner left Barcelona
Sergio Aguero claimed Lionel Messi had a Barcelona jersey in his locker room, and Messi told him to take his photo once they renewed his contract.
With sadness in their eyes, fans saw Lionel Messi leave Barcelona. There have been rumours that the Argentine is still upset over having to leave FC Barcelona in 2021 and that president of the club Laporta’s actions caused the star’s departure.
Messi was attempting to stay with his favourite team, Barcelona, at that point, but there were reports that Laporta was not going to extend the player’s contract.
Even during the Copa America, according to former Argentina player Sergio Aguero, Messi was anticipating that the Spanish club would extend his deal. However, the player was dismayed by their reaction.
Aguero told in an interview: “During the Copa America Messi had the Barca jersey in his room. Every three day he (Messi) would tell me, I think they renewed my contract. You are going to have to take the photo of me with the jersey for the official announcement. And every time we were prepared they told him not yet.”

Messi set numerous records for the Spanish side. Barca attempted to relive their heyday when Messi left, but the team fell short of expectations.
After his contract with PSG expired in June of last year, reports circulated that Messi was going back to Barcelona. According to rumours, Messi wanted to play for the Blaugrana but was deterred by the signing process’ difficulties.
Leo also said that he has not yet received an official offer letter from the LaLiga side to join the team. He wasn’t interested in Barcelona’s plans to sell other players and reduce player salaries in order to re-sign him.
Since his first game in the MLS, the 36-year-old has drawn attention for his performance and goal-contributing abilities. Football analysts believe that Messi won’t need much time if his current form holds up and he becomes Inter Miami’s leading goal scorer.
If Messi achieves 24 goals, he will surpass Michael Jordan as Miami’s all-time highest scorer. Messi netted one goal in the first match, then two goals in the following two games.
