Man United planning to hijack AS Roma's deal for Marcos Leonardo
Roma and United to set to battle for Santos striker
Manchester United are hoping to hijack deal for AS Roma’s reported target Marcos Leonardo from Brazilian club Santos.
According to reports, Marcos Leonardo of Santos, a frequent priority for Roma, is of attention to Manchester United.
Recently, the Giallorossi and the 20-year-old forward from Santos were in negotiations for a permanent transfer. The Brazilian team, who are trying to avoid relegation, resisted the trade.
To make Leonardo’s relocation official in January 2024, Roma have been attempting to sign the Santos striker.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the capital side needs to move quickly because Manchester United have recently turned their attention on Leonardo.

The tabloid reports that the Red Devils are prepared to make a larger offer than Roma: a fixed cost of €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
Requesting that the team’s President keeps his assurance that he was going to be allowed to depart, Santos forward Marcos Leonardo expressed his disappointment at being denied the opportunity to leave the team and join Roma this summer.
The Giallorossi had been attempting to take over Tammy Abraham, who suffered long-term damage in the final Serie A match of the 2022–23 season, with the talented 20-year-old.
Santos, though, are reluctant to let Marcos Leonardo depart this summer because it will be impossible to replace him because the domestic Serie A season doesn’t end until the conclusion of the calendar year.
Meanwhile, United are looking to sign another striker after acquiring Rasmus Hojlund who is yet to make his United debut due to back injury but the Danish hitman is nearing his bow and could be available against Nottingham Forest.
