Manchester City identify Jeremy Doku as Riyad Mahrez's replacement
The Belgian attacker plays for Rennes in France
Manchester City are targeting the Belgian forward Jeremy Doku as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian forward left the treble winners to join Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
Jeremy Doku is 21 years old and plays for Ligue 1 side Rennes. He joined the French side from Belgian club Anderlecht.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the English champions have added Doku to their list of players to replace Mahrez.
Romano added that Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is another player considered by the treble winners. The young French attacker has shown a lot of promise in the last season. Chelsea have also shown their interest in Olise.
Doku joined Rennes in 2020 for €26 million in addition to bonuses and became the club’s most expensive signing. In his debut season, the winger completed 110 dribbles, the most by any player under 23 in Europe’s top five leagues. He scored two goals and provided three assists.

In the 2021-22 season, Doku struggled with injuries and made 18 appearances. He made four goal-scoring contributions.
Last season, the 21-year-old scored seven goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. He also provided five assists.
Jeremy Doku also made one appearance for Belgium in the FIFA World Cup 2022. Overall, he has made 14 appearances and scored two goals for the Red Devils. Doku also impressed everyone at the UEFA Euro 2020.
Riyad Mahrez left Manchester City and joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli for £30 million. The Algerian left the Premier League team after winning four league titles. He added a Champions League trophy to his name and also won two FA Cups during his five-year spell at City.
Pep will look to add a player or two to his treble-winning side. Their two first-team players Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez have already left the English club. Mateo Kovacic has been added to the midfield but Guardiola will be eyeing a player or two before the window ends.
