Manchester City reach verbal agreement to sign Matheus Nunes

The Portuguese midfielder joined Wolves in 2022
According to David Orenstein, Manchester City have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Nunes.
Manchester City were in dire need of a few midfield steel supports, with Kevin De Bruyne expected to remain out for a while.
Mateo Kovacic was already a member of their team this summer, but he was brought in to take over for the departing Ilkay Gundogan.
Wolves rejected Manchester City’s initial bid of £47 million, although they did gain momentum when Nunes himself stated his desire to sign with Pep Guardiola’s team.
In an effort to expedite a transfer to the Etihad, the midfielder temporarily ceased practising with Wolves.
Reporter Loic Tanzi of L’Equipe claims that Manchester City have accepted their most recent bid for the Portuguese international.
Man City will be extremely encouraged by this news because there have been some growing concerns about their ability to finalise a deal for Nunes.

Due to the 25-year-old midfielder’s deal with Wolves, which runs through 2027, they have always been in a favourable negotiation position.
Kalvin Phillips might also be interested in this information. The England international has been rumoured to be leaving, but his departure wouldn’t be official until Man City could add another midfielder to their roster.
Matheus Nunes at Wolves
Just one year ago, Nunes moved from Sporting Lisbon to Wolves when he was acquired by then-manager Bruno Lage for a then-club-record £42 million sum.
The East Midlands club came out of a down year that had them last going into the World Cup break to place 13th, and the Portugal international went on to appear in 35 Premier League games throughout his rookie season.
As both players are drawing interest from a number of teams, City is also expected to draw conclusions today about James McAtee and Cole Palmer.
