The Bundesliga champions are open to selling Leon Goretzka

Leon Goretzka, the star midfielder for Bayern Munich, is rumoured to be available for grabs this summer due to his unclear status under Thomas Tuchel, and Manchester United remains in contention to recruit him.

The Red Devils and rival Premier League team West Ham United are still vying for the 28-year-old’s services, as reported by Sky Sports Germany writer Florian Plettenberg. The German international has recently plummeted down the Allianz Arena’s hierarchy.

Ten Hag is optimistic that this will influence the German international’s decision.

According to Sky Sports in Germany, Tuchel is willing to trade Goretzka for roughly £43 million in order to raise money for his pursuit of Harry Kane.

Mason Mount, a midfielder, was already signed by United this summer after leaving Chelsea for $60 million.

Goretzka signed a long-term contract with the German team back in 2021, and it is scheduled to expire in 2026.

The midfielder signed Bayern in 2019 and afterwards made 179 matches for Bayern spanning all competitions, scoring 34 goals and providing 35 assists.

He played 22 Bundesliga games last season following surgery for a knee ailment.

However, with the addition of Laimer from RB Leipzig this summer and the competition for a spot being forced by rising sensation Ryan Gravenberch, Goretzka is no longer the focal point of Tuchel’s starting XI.

According to the reports, West Ham also enjoyed what they saw from Goretzka. On the heels of selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for an offer valued at £105 million, the Hammers are looking to acquire two midfielders.

West Ham have attempted to achieve just that, but their efforts have not yet been successful. A wide range of offers have been rejected, including those for James Ward-Prowse ($30 million), Conor Gallagher ($40 million), and Joao Palhinha ($45 million).
