Manchester United eager to offload Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay as Ten Hag eyes new transfers
Erik ten Hag eyes a couple of signings
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have made some very significant signings in this transfer window, including those of goalkeeper Andre Onana, midfielder Mason Mount, and striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
However, it is being reported that manager Erik ten Hag has not completed his transfer window transactions and is looking to bulk up his midfield before the transfer window closes on September 1st.
At the moment, the Red Devils have heavily linked with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and are expected to contest Liverpool in a virtual bidding war over Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravernberch. United may show desperation in signing another midfielder more than ever as their marquee signing of the window, Mason Mount, is expected to be out with injuries for at least four weeks.
However, it is being reported that to get more transfers sanctioned, Ten Hag will first have to offload certain players from the squad. And at the moment, the two players topping the exit list at Old Trafford are Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
Scott McTominay was seen on the bench in United’s first two fixtures of the season as he remained an unused substitute. It is believed that he is currently not a part of Ten Hag’s plans going forward and has been informed that the Red Devils will offload him for the right price. He has been linked to two teams, Newcastle United and West Ham United.

West Ham United presented Manchester United with a bid of 30 million pounds which was outright rejected. It is being said that Mason Mount’s injury might delay his exit, but he does not look to be a long-term prospect at Old Trafford.
Harry Maguire, on the other hand, has numbered his days as a Red Devil. He has been pushed down the pecking order by Erik ten Hag, with defenders like Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw being preferred over him. On the other hand, he was stripped of his captaincy just before the season started.
West Ham then showed considerable interest in Harry Maguire, and with the deal costing the London-based club €30 million, it looked like it would go ahead. However, Maguire pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
However, as Ten Hag is determined to sign a midfielder, it is more than conceivable that either of them will leave Old Trafford in the short term, as neither of them are long-term prospects at the moment.
