Manchester United suffer 3-0 defeat against newcomers Burnley behind closed doors
The Red Devils will next face Nottingham Forest on Saturday
According to reports, Manchester United fell to Burnley 3-0 in a friendly game played behind closed doors on Wednesday.
According to United Plug, a well-known United page on Twitter (X), Erik ten Hag’s team lost the match despite starting a team with a number of United’s bench players.
According to reports, the starting lineup included Facundo Pellistri, Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial, Donny Van de Beek, Hannibal Mejbri, and Jonny Evans.
Naturally, five of the seven announced starters are either anticipated to depart around the summer or have already appeared in a storefront window, indicating they have no place in Ten Hag’s plans.
Evans, meanwhile, only has a temporary deal with United, despite Ten Hag’s indications that he intends the defensive player to stay with the team for the remainder of the season.
After defeating Everton at the club’s training facility a week ago, this will apparently be the second time this month that United has played a friendly against Premier League competition.
Ten Hag just uses the games as another chance to improve fitness levels in the early going of the season, although his team might have used a boost after defeating the Premier League rookies.

The supposed friendly loss follows two underwhelming performances in United’s opening Premier League games.
Manchester United’s midfield was outclassed, their defence became visible, and their attacking line was ineffective for an additional straight game in their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.
Ten Hag seemed upbeat following United’s Saturday loss to Ange Postecoglou’s team, but if the team doesn’t improve on its first two outings, pressure will start to build on the Dutchman.
In the first round of the season, United also managed a shaky victory over Wolves, a match in which Casemiro once again appeared outmatched in the middle of the pitch.
In spite of this, Ten Hag stated to Sky Sports following Manchester United’s defeat against Tottenham: “I enjoyed the first half; it was a really strong performance by Manchester United, but we had to score. We improved our prospects.
