The Brazilian has told PSG he wants to leave the club this summer

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he doesn’t want Neymar at Chelsea as the Blues prepare to face Liverpool on Sunday, according to rumours.

Paris Saint-Germain have put Neymar up for sale, and last night in France, rumours circulated that Neymar may make a surprise transfer to Stamford Bridge.

PSG are thought to welcome bids between £60 million and £70 million. However, it is thought that Pochettino opposes Chelsea’s acquisition of the 31-year-old.

Neymar makes an alleged £600,000 per week at PSG, thus a transfer is not feasible. Additionally, there are questions about whether he fits the football culture and playing style that Pochettino is seeking to instil at Chelsea.

Pochettino and Chelsea have similar transfer goals, focusing on developing players rather than marquee names.

A deal for Neymar is viewed as a non-starter and is not being considered by sporting executives Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who work regularly with Pochettino.

Neymar ‘keen’ on Barcelona reunion

Neymar is rumoured to be set on moving back to Barcelona.

His PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe has also been ruled out by Chelsea as a transfer target. Neymar is thought to want to come back to Barcelona, but no negotiations with PSG have begun because the Blaugrana administration is unsure whether they want to arrange a return.

Before Neymar’s one-year stay with PSG over the 2021–22 season, Pochettino previously collaborated with the player.

The Argentine boss is rumoured to be unsure whether the forward has the correct profile for the kind of play he wants to play at Chelsea and is unwilling to allow the team to pursue his recruitment.

Under the direction of Pochettino, Chelsea is completely overhauling its roster and has switched their attention away from well-known players and towards up-and-coming stars like Moises Caicedo.

Technical executives Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley continue to support Mauricio Pochettino’s philosophy and think Neymar won’t fit in at Chelsea.
