Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia set to miss Serie A opener against Frosinone

The Georgian winger won Serie A Player of the Year 2022-23
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be sidelined in Napoli’s opening Serie A game against Frosinone at the Stadio Stirpe tomorrow, Saturday, August 19.
The youngster will not travel with the team and will remain in Naples to recover from his muscle fatigue. He hopes to be available before their second game.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season yesterday as he led Napoli to the Serie A title for the first time since 1990 when the club won under Diego Maradona.
He was also a cornerstone in the squad that went deep into the Champions League and will be hoping to lead the defending Serie A champions to European glory this season.
The Georgian was also named Serie A player of the year last season after Napoli’s impressive season, and he will be hoping to carry the same form this campaign as well.
However, this Serie A club will be without Spalletti, who has now stepped down as the manager of the club and is on the verge of becoming Italy’s national coach after Roberto Mancini resigned as Azzuri’s head coach.

New head coach Rudd Garcia will assume the duties of Napoli and speak at the press conference before the game. Napoli will be hoping to defend the title with star striker Victor Osimhen leading the line, who finished the previous campaign as the top scorer in the league.
“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia`s impact on the league has been impressive,” Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo said. “Congratulations to Napoli for having brought to Italy this talent, who from the very first matches showed off his repertoire of technique, dribbling, personality and creativity.
“With 12 goals and 10 assists, Kvaratskhelia was one of the leading players for the Azzurri, who won the Scudetto and made many fans and lovers of beautiful football dream.”
Kvaratskhelia became a relative stranger until he signed Napoli in the summer from Georgian outfit Dinamo Batumi for a rumoured price of 10 million euros ($10.7 million).
However, the 22-year-old winger was essential to Napoli capturing its maiden Serie A title after 33 years. So greatly so that he got the moniker “Kvaradona” in reference to Napoli idol Diego Maradona, who guided the club to its only two prior league titles.
