These players were the star performers for their respective teams.

The second game week of the Premier League provided sensational action as the teams battled it out for the points. Despite the early stages of the Premier League 2023–24 campaign, the competition is extremely high and the fixtures are very unpredictable. There is no room for error in the league, which houses some of the biggest talent on the globe.

The recent game week saw plenty of notable individual performances from the players. Many fixtures were decided due to brilliant performances from key individuals who showed their class and quality. Thanks to their performances, clubs went on to secure positive results, and one can expect them to perform brilliantly in the upcoming Premier League fixtures too.

As the dust settles after an entertaining round of fixtures, here is a look at the team of the week from the Premier League’s second game week:

GK – Guglielmo Vicario

Guglielmo Vicario was exceptional against Manchester United. The goalkeeper made six saves, helping Tottenham Hotspur secure a 2-0 win over the Red Devils. It was his composure and quick reflexes that frustrated the MUFC’s attacking lineup.

RB – Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker is probably the best full-back in the Premier League

Kyle Walker was the skipper and led by example in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United. The full-back was never in a position of panic, kept the ball moving nicely, and dealt with any and every move that the NUFC attack had to throw at him. He helped MCFC secure a well-deserved clean sheet.

CB – Manuel Akanji

Manuel Akanji was equally good in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United. The centre-back kept NUFC’s forwards silent and dealt with every threat comfortably. He made three clearances and finished the game with a 95% passing success rate as well.

CB – Ethan Pinnock

Ethan Pinnock was crucial for Brentford in their impressive away victory over Fulham. While the club’s attackers destroyed the opposition’s defence, Pinnock kept their attacking force at bay with sensational defending. He made six crucial clearances as well.

LB – Pervis Estupinan

Pervis Estupinan is emerging as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. The left-back scored in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 4-1 away win over Wolves. He also provided an assist in the match for Kaoru Mitoma.

CM – Pape Sarr

Pape Sarr was brilliant for Tottenham Hotspur and was the reason why the London-based outfit won their fixture against Manchester United. Along with Yves Bissouma, Sarr dominated the midfielder, covered every inch of the pitch, and also scored the opening goal of the game to put his team in the driving seat.

CM – John McGinn

John McGinn was one of the best-performing midfielders in the past week. He played a pivotal role in helping Aston Villa secure their first win of the season by demolishing Everton with a 4-0 scoreline. He scored the first goal of the match and pressed intently to give his side a chance to win.

CAM – Solly March
