Kylian Mbappe’s transfer saga continues

According to reports, PSG are prepared to intensify hostilities with Real Madrid and are thinking about filing an official protest with FIFA over Real’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid have long been open about wanting to make Mbappe the next star of their offence.

Due to his refusal to exercise the option of an extended contract, Mbappe is at odds with PSG and will become a free agent at the conclusion of this season.

However, the Telegraph is now saying that the French club is debating whether Real Madrid’s actions justify a formal FIFA complaint. The French champions are reportedly sure that its player already has a contract in place to join them.

There are reports that Mbappe may receive a significant signing-on fee of over £138 million should he choose to sign with Real Madrid as a free agent the following summer.

Importantly, if Madrid and Mbappe had already reached an agreement, it would be in violation of FIFA regulations.

By contacting a player before first receiving consent from his existing team, in this case, PSG, they would be breaking the law.

Given that Mbappe declined to make a phone call to Saudi club Al-Hilal after they had a world-record £259 million proposal accepted by the French champions, PSG are apparently even more persuaded that something is amiss with the Spanish club.

Mbappe, 24, appeared to be dedicating his future to the team through 2025 when he signed a new contract with Paris Saint Germain last summer.

Despite being advertised as a three-year deal, Mbappe only had a two-year commitment that he could choose to extend for another year.

He had until Monday night at midnight to sign the extension, but he didn’t, and thus his contract expires in 2024.
