France and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has taken a big step in his managerial career. The 46-year-old has been appointed head coach of the France U-21 national team.
He has signed a contract until 2025, which means that Henry will lead this team at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris. Former Angers manager Gerald Baticle will join Henry’s staff as an assistant coach.
Thierry Henry in management
After retiring from football in 2014, the Frenchman began his managerial career in Belgium. The former goal-scoring machine was appointed assistant manager of the Belgium national team from 2016 to 2018.
After this brief spell with the Red Devils, Thierry Henry managed his former team, AS Monaco, in 2018. However, the reunion didn’t turn out in favour of the Frenchman. He was dismissed just after 20 games in charge.
MLS side Montreal Impact appointed Henry as their manager in late 2019. He stepped down from the coaching position in February 2021 after a decent record at the club.
