Newcastle United made return to Champions League after decades
Six clubs had already advanced into the playoff stages when the 32 teams were drawn, with 24 automatic winners being established.
The eight groups take one team from each of the four pots of eight teams that contain those squads. According to UEFA regulations, clubs from a single club, including Manchester City and Arsenal, are not allowed to compete in the same group.
After the completion of the last playoff games on August 30, the exact roster in each pot was chosen based on the UEFA coefficient standings.
The UEFA Champions League 2023-24 draw was successfully done in Monaco, and the upcoming weeks will see some exciting group-stage matchups.
With the Magpies confronting a challenging comeback to Europe's greatest stage, Premier League trio Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United have all learned what awaits them in the months future.
For the first time in twenty years, Eddie Howe's team is participating in the Champions League, and they have been selected and placed in Group F with Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan.
As part of their championship defence, City will face off against RB Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade, and Young Boys in Group G. In Group A, United will face off against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, while Arsenal will face off against Europa League champion Sevilla.
For the first time in Tournament history, we will not witness both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo gracing the competition as both are currently playing out of Europe.
