Many top players have joined the Saudi league this summer

The Saudi Pro League has been very active in doing business in the ongoing transfer window. Although, they have had noticeable transfers in the past, the last two transfer windows, and especially the later one, has established its position as one of the most talked about league in world football.

Saudi Arabia has acquired some of the biggest superstars of the game in the ongoing transfer window. The so-called Saudi exodus began when superstar Cristiano Ronaldo announced that he will be ending his troubled second stint at Manchester United and will be joining Saudi side Al Nassr for a 2-and-a-half-year deal.

At the time, his decision was very polarising in the footballing community, on one side people said that it would lead to Ronaldo’s legacy being affected. On the other side it was said that one of the games biggest superstar leaving Europe would not be good for the popularity of the game.

However, Ronaldo’s move seems to have created an atmosphere in which some of the games biggest names have followed him to play in the Gulf League.

Some of the biggest names include his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabhino, Roberto Firmino, and most recently, Neymar.

The Brazilian superstar credited Ronaldo for the Saudi exodus, he remarked how earlier people called him “crazy”, but later many followed in his footsteps.

The Saudi exodus has become so significant that it has started disrupting well established European teams. The Saudi Pro League transfer window is set to close on 20th September. Approximately three weeks after the European transfer window closes on 1st September.

This has become a cause of concern for many top European clubs, as it is believed that Saudi clubs may poach some of their best players with big money and they will be left with any time to find replacements.

There has been a demanding by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta that the European and Saudi transfer windows should run simultaneously.
