Many big clubs have switched clubs this window

The clubs all across Europe have been pro active in acquiring players in the ongoing summer transfer window. And as the deadline for locking in your teams for the season across all major European Leagues approaches, many clubs are scrambling to complete their squads before deadline day.

The deadline day for the five most consequential leagues in Europe, which include the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and the Serie A are the same, 1st September.

However, the timing at which the deadlines close vary amongst different leagues. The English topflight closes by 11pm, the same goes with Spain and France. The Italian deadline sits at 5pm, while the deadline in Germany is the earliest at 5 pm.  All timings are in BST.

Clubs in Europe this year have not shied away from spending cash in acquiring their targets this year. A report by Deloitte has suggested that Premier League clubs have spent a cumulative 1.92 billion pounds in this transfer window. Most noticeably, Chelsea have spent around €1bn since they switched ownerships and Todd Boehly took over in 2020. Premier League has seen two signings exceed the €100m mark. The first one was when Declan Rice moved from West Ham to Arsenal, the second one was when Moises Caicedo moved from Brighton to Chelsea.

Other European leagues in the continent have their deadlines set on a later date. The Belgian League’s deadline closes on 6th September.  The Turkish deadline closes on 8th September. Portugal on 22nd September.
