Top five fastest players to reach five Premier League hattricks
Scoring a hattrick in itself is a difficult task and we are talking about the fastest to five
The Premier League is one of the most watched football leagues in the world. It was started back in 1992 and has witnessed many standout players take part in it. In its three decades of history and entertainment, the league has witnessed many folds of growth. Be it in revenue terms or worldwide following and admiration.
Given the competitive nature of teams all throughout, it is also one of the most competitive leagues out there. Any team can beat anyone on its day. And even in this uncertain and competitive environment, we have seen great strikers able to stand out from the crowd. This list of five players is for the ones who have taken the least amount of games to score five hattricks in the Premier League:
5. Harry Kane - 115 games
Although Harry Kane has left England and his boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur, his records are there to stay. Kane is only second to Alan Shearer in the all-time top scorer list for England's top-flight competition founded in 1992. Before leaving for Germany to join FC Bayern Munchen in this summer's transfer window, the London born centre forward was able to net 213 Premier League goals across 320 appearances he made. And to reach five hattricks, Kane took 115 games only.
4. Alan Shearer - 110 games
Notably the leading scorer of all time in modern-day English first-tier football. In the Premier League's three decade long history, the former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers man leads the line with 260 goals. It took him 441 appearances to land that mark. And even has 64 assists to make it even more wonderful. Being there since the inaugural Premier League season, Shearer retired after fourteen seasons of modern English football. But even with his greatness, only in the 1994-95 season he was able to clinch the Premier League title with The Magpies.
3. Luis Suárez - 86 games
The 36-year-old may be out of Europe playing football in the Brazilian first tier for Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, but he was able to leave his mark in just three and a half years in England. Back on 31 January 2011, Liverpool announced two strikers signings on deadline day. One was Andy Carroll from Newcastle United and another was Luis Suárez from Ajax.
They were bought to replace the outgoing Fernando Torres on the same day. Carroll was handed number 9 vacated by Torres, but it was Suárez who gave Anfield fans more lasting memories. The striker went on to appear 133 times for The Reds before moving to FC Barcelona. Suárez's fifth hattrick came in his 86th Premier League appearance.
2. Ruud van Nistelrooy - 73 games
Ruud van Nistelrooy hasn't scored more than these five Premier League hattricks but still has stayed in the first spot for all these years. In 2001 summer, Manchester United announced the arrival of the Dutch centre forward van Nistelrooy from PSV Eindhoven. A British-record fee of £19 million was agreed in April 2001 to land the player.
He could have been a United player the previous year. But there were concerns about his knee, so the deal had collapsed. A year later, the Dutch forward arrived and scored 150 goals in his five year stay at Old Trafford. It took him 73 games to get to the five hattricks which also stood as the fastest to reach five until broken by a player from the Blue part of Manchester this month.
1. Erling Haaland - 39 games
In just a season in England, the boy of former Manchester City player Alfie Haaland has changed almost the entire landscape of goalscoring records in the Premier League. The summer of 2022 saw Borussia Dortmund bid farewell to their number one force in attack Erling Braut Haaland. A £51.2 million involvement helped to deal with the transfer and Man City made it official on Monday, 13th June 2022. And in his home debut at the Etihad Stadium on matchday 4 of the Premier League, Haaland opened his hattrick account in England. Even in the next game against Nottingham Forest, he scored another.
On Matchday 9 against Manchester United, Haaland scored his season's third hattrick and became the quickest player to reach the haul of three Premier League hattricks. In this process, the Norwegian was able to tear down the record set by former Red Devil man Michael Owen.
Owen had a record of 48 league games to get to three hattricks and it had stood still since 1998. And to reach the five-haul milestone of Premier League hattricks the former RB Salzburg striker took over another former United star. The long standing record of five hattricks in 73 games by Ruud van Nistelrooy was finally broken in a game against Fulham last Saturday by Haaland.
