Prabir Das received suspension following his actions against Mumbai City

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) disciplinary committee has handed down a suspension of three matches to Prabir Das, a key player for Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC). This action comes as a consequence of an incident involving Prabir's actions against a referee during a heated match against Mumbai City FC on October 8.

According to insiders close to the development informed KhelNow, "the AIFF committee has stated that Prabir Das's actions against the referee were aggressive. They specifically highlight an incident where his hand inadvertently contacted the referee during a dispute."

Meanwhile, another source informed us, "Prabir's actions were accidental, and that he was entangled in a brawl with a Mumbai City FC player at the time." This perspective adds an intricate layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding his suspension.

The match between Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters held at the Mumbai Football Arena, delivered a thrilling spectacle for football fans. The final scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Mumbai City FC hardly paints the full picture, as the match was marred by a total of nine yellow cards and two red cards.

Yoell van Nieff and Miloš Drinčić were the unfortunate recipients of the red cards in the dramatic 90+15' minute of the game. Consequently, the AIFF disciplinary committee decided to suspend both Drinčić (KBFC) and Van Nieff (Mumbai) for three matches.

One particular point of contention among fans has been the suspension of Prabir Das. The accidental nature of the incident has prompted discussions among fans and pundits. Blasters fans expressed their disappointment and questioned why Prabir Das was banned while some Mumbai players appeared to escape similar consequences.

Adding to KBFC's woes is the fact that they are currently dealing with several injuries to key players. Milos Drincic is now sidelined due to his suspension, and their second foreign centre-back, Marko Lešković, is in the process of rehabilitation for an injury, Jeakson Singh Thounaojam and Aibanbha Dohling are also nursing injuries, With Prabir Das's suspension, the team faces further complications as they prepare to face NorthEast United FC in a home match in Kochi.

The KBFC management is left with a significant decision to make. They have the option to appeal the AIFF's decision to suspend Prabir Das for three matches. This appeal could be a means to seek reconsideration and perhaps a reduction in the suspension duration. The final choice lies with the club, and it remains to be seen whether KBFC will proceed with an appeal or accept the disciplinary committee's decision.

As KBFC prepares for upcoming matches, they face challenges in team composition due to suspensions and injuries, making their decision regarding a potential appeal all the more crucial in maintaining their competitive edge in the upcoming matches.
