The Nizams are yet to win a game following a poor start to the season.

Hyderabad FC will play against Chennaiyin FC in their first home game of the Indian Super League 2023-24 season at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium on Monday. The outfit has lost both matches prior and has no points on board heading into the clash with the Marina Machans that are in the same boat.

Hyderabad FC head coach Thangboi Singto interacted with the press ahead of the contest with Chennaiyin FC and called for his players to stamp their authority in the upcoming game. He spoke on various topics ranging from the international break to the expectations of the fans and more. He was joined by Oswaldo Alanis in the press conference who also spoke with the reporters.

Here are the excerpts from the conversation:

International break coming at the right time

Speaking about the resumption of the ISL after the international break, Thangboi Singto indicated that the break came at the right time for them. “The international break came at the right time for us. We have assessed what we did wrong in the first two matches and also harped in on what worked for us,” he said.

Nothing less than a win will be enough

Thangboi Singto mentioned how he understands the frustrations of the fans as the Nizams have lost both of their initial two games of the season. “We know what is required from us. We are a team in transition, but for how long are we going to keep saying that? We know that the fans are disappointed - and it is understandable - so, it is time for us to prove our mettle on the pitch on Monday. The season effectively starts for us now. Nothing less than three points is good enough for us.” he said hoping to finally deliver a win for the supporters.

Laxmikant Kattimani’s fitness update

Hyderabad FC’s first-choice goalkeeper, Laxmikant Kattimani has been on the sidelines nursing an injury. Providing an update on the player’s road to recovery, Singto said, “Kattimani is recovering well. He will still be out for another two or three weeks. The medical team has given positive updates about him, and we are happy to have him back in training.”

Oswaldo Alanis on his initial days as an HFC player

Mexican defender Oswaldo Alanis spoke positively about the club’s ambitions. He said, “I have had the good fortune of playing in a lot of different countries and continents and very little changes from one place to another. I am sure that we can achieve great things here at Hyderabad FC; it is a club that is focused on going for top honours."
