Aiban Dohling joined Kerala Blasters from FC Goa this season.

After a tremendous start to the new season, Kerala Blasters suffered a tormenting defeat against nearby rivals Mumbai City FC, in what was an electrifying encounter.

To add to their woes, the Blasters were forced to play the majority of the game without their ideal left-back Aiban Dohling, who had to unfortunately leave the field with an injury around the 40th minute mark.

The 27-year-old was looking in some discomfort as he left the field, and after his diagnosis, it has now been confirmed that the left-back will be sidelined for the entire season ahead.

Aiban broke the news about his injury on social media on Tuesday, the 10th of October.

“Absolutely devastated to have picked up this injury at such a crucial time in the season. Gutted I won’t be able to play any further part in the Indian Super League for my team Kerala Blasters. But now it’s all about supporting the boys and getting behind them. I’m going to give everything i have to make sure i come back stronger than before,” he posted on Instagram.

Aiban Dohling at Kerala Blasters

Aiban was roped in by Kerala Blasters at the start of the 2023-24 season, and was expected to be a major force in the backline for the side. As a seasoned professional, Aiban’s experience in the league, added with his great understanding of the game, would have made a real impact for Kerala.

The defender made his debut for Kerala against Bengaluru FC, and also featured in their following game. With two impressive shifts for the Blasters, Aiban was expected to easily consolidate his spot in the left-back position. But unfortunately, he encountered this excruciating injury in their recent game against Mumbai.

Now, as Aiban starts his recovery, Khel Now wishes the player the best of luck, and hopes he gets back to action as soon as possible.
