Joshua Kimmich to miss Dortmund trip after receiving 2nd career red card
The Bayern Munich midfielder was sent off against Darmstadt
Joshua Kimmich was sent off for the second time in his professional football career after receiving a straight red card against SV Darmstadt 98 on matchday 9 of the Bundesliga 2023-24 season.
Early on in the match, Kimmich was caught in possession by Marvin Mehlem on the edge of the penalty box. Joshua Kimmich brought him down and denied a clear goal-scoring opportunity to the opposition team. The referee had no other option than to produce a red card in the 4th minute of the match.
Joshua Kimmich has played over 400 games for Bayern Munich in all competitions and received a red card for the first time. His first red card came in the Bundesliga last season.
The midfielder is a key player for Bayern Munich and will miss the crucial trip away to Borussia Dortmund next weekend. Joshua Kimmich will also miss a DFB-Pokal game along with a home match against FC Heidenheim.
Joshua Kimmich has recorded five assists in 15 games played in the 2023-24 season. Bayern Munich will miss his skill set in the centre of the park.
Kimmich has been linked with a move away from the club. However, there is no possibility of a transfer away from Germany. The German midfielder plays a huge role in the midfield for his club. Bayern Munich have a strong side this season. Harry Kane's transfer has boosted the squad and added more quality to the squad.
Joshua Kimmich's red card against Darmstadt was followed by two more red cards in the first half. Klaus Gjasula and Matej Maglica were sent off and the game was played with 19 men.
