Wilshere has revealed his desire to manage Arsenal's senior team

Colorado Rapids of the MLS are in negotiations with Jack Wilshere about taking the position as head coach. The former England international is at present in charge of Arsenal's Under 18 team, his old club.

But since Robin Fraser left his position as manager last month, the Rapids have highlighted Wilshere as a prospective replacement.

Wilshere is interested in the job since it would allow him to take his first steps into management, but there is currently no agreement in place.

Although Wilshere is content in his position as an academy coach at Arsenal, it is acknowledged inside the Emirates that their former player could one day be contacted by other teams.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, controlled by Stan Kroenke, is the owner of both Arsenal and the Rapids.

Colorado was assigned to finish last in the conference's western division, and Chris Little was named temporary coach in charge. The squad is nine points below the second-to-last LA Galaxy with two games left in the regular season.

When Wilshere's injury-plagued playing career came to an end in the summer of 2022, he was named the manager of Arsenal's Under-18 team.

He delighted academy boss Per Mertesacker by leading the young Arsenal to the FA Youth Cup final in the inaugural year in charge.

The German claimed last season that "he's made a huge impact." His dream is to one day lead a first-team someplace, but for the time being, I won't let it.

Auston Trusty, a former Arsenal defender, formerly alternated between north London and Denver, joining the Gunners from the Rapids in 2022 before making a loan transfer to MLS.
