If we’re at our best, then we’re more than capable of winning the game: Chennaiyin FC boss Owen Coyle

23-year-old Vincy Barretto said that he will celebrate if he scores against his former club Kerala Blasters.
Chennaiyin FC will look to get back to winning ways when they face off against the high flying Kerala Blasters in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24. The Marina Machans come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw against East Bengal.
The Blasters on the other hand won their last game 1-0 against Hyderabad FC. it is going to be an epic battle between two southern giants come Tuesday. Ahead of the game, Chennaiyin FC’s head coach Owen Coyle and player Vincy Barretto addressed the media.

The head coach began by sharing an update on his team and said that both Rahim Ali and Jordan Murray are available for selection ahead of the big clash.
“We did a number of tests. Rahim certainly comes back into the squad. Jordan is much better. We just have to make sure that he feels good about himself. Akash is still out,” he stated.
Thoughts on Kerala Blasters
Sharing his thoughts on Kerala Blasters, Owen Coyle said that it is going to be a difficult game, but he is excited about the match.
“It’s a derby game. So we know it’s difficult. They’re flying it at the top and all credit to them. But they also know how well we played on Saturday and the chances we created. So that’s what I have to continue to do. We’re excited about the match,” he asserted.
Thoughts on his team
The head coach also shared his thoughts on his team and said that his side can create chances, unlock defences, but they can do better.
“We can create chances. We’ve got players who can unlock defences. We need to be more solidified in terms of giving up. And as I say, if we’re at our best, then we’re more than capable of winning the game. But we’re going to have to be very good, that’s for sure,” he said.
Kerala Blasters’ fans
Owen Coyle also shared his views on Kerala Blasters’ fan base and said, “I know how the feeling everybody has, obviously the support that Kerala is going to have, they’ll fill the stadium. They’ll be colourful, they’ll be vocal. But for me, that’s the arenas that I love playing.

Playing under Owen Coyle
The young forward shared his thoughts on playing under Owen Coyle and said that the head coach always motivates the head. “Coach always motivates us and he always tells us to press. We always train and try to implement what he says in the match,” he quipped.
Playing and Scoring against Kerala Blasters
Vincy began his ISL career with Kerala Blasters before moving to the two-time ISL Champions. When asked about his thoughts on playing and scoring against his former side, Vincy said, “It feels good, but I know and I’ve already played with them. I am positive and we want to take the three points. We have to give our best wherever we go. Last year, what they did to me without knowing any reason. So, this year if I score, I will celebrate and that’s it,” he concluded.
