Gokulam Kerala and Kerala United will play in the opening fixture of the tournament.

The Kerala Premier League is all set to return in action, as another exciting season of Kerala’s premier footballing competition begins this month.

A total of 20 teams will be competing across two groups, from which the top three teams from either groups will enter into the Super Six that will be held early next year.

The 2023-24 season will be the 11th edition of the tournament, and will feature three new teams – St. Joseph’s College and Luca SC have entered through the qualifiers, whereas FC Kerala have entered via corporate entry.

Two matches, with kick-off times of 4 pm and 7 pm (IST) respectively, will be held on all days, and the tournament is expected to last till February.

Kerala Premier League 2022-23

The 2022-23 edition of the KPL was one for the ages, as it had unwavering action and drama, which lasted until the very last day of the competition, that saw Kerala United FC win the tournament for the very first time in their history.

The hornbills advanced from the group stages courtesy of a better goal difference, and came fourth in the Super Six to be able to earn a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. In the semis, Kerala United ripped apart Wayanad United FC, and claimed a thumping 3-0 win.

Their top-notch football earned them a high flying date against the mighty Gokulam Kerala, who were the outright favourites ahead of the game, but a strong defensive display, combined with a stroke of luck, saw the age-old club from Malappuram, Kerala get their hands on the Kerala Premier League title.

But will the Hornbills be able to defend their title this time around, or will the might of Gokulam and Kerala Blasters displace them from their throne. To find out, catch the action of the Kerala Premier League from the 25th of this month.
