Onana helped Inter Milan reach the final of Champions League last season

In the Champions League since 2018–19, André Onana has committed seven mistakes that have resulted in goals, including the two that on Wednesday night gave Hakim Ziyech a brace in Man United’s draw against Galatasaray.

This season, Manchester United have been unable to stop breaking records—for all the wrong reasons—and their match on Wednesday in Turkey was no exception.

In a sodden Istanbul, Erik ten Hag’s team let slip another two-goal lead in Europe, ultimately finishing with a 3-3 tie.

Due to this outcome and the fact that United lost both their home and away matches against Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen, they are currently ranked last in Group A with one round of games left.

Despite the evidence that has been seen thus far suggesting otherwise, they still have a slim possibility of making it to the knockout stages.

These stark statistics highlight United’s historically poor night and Champions League campaign thus far.

Since they conceded forty-three goals in the opening twenty games of the 1962–63 season, Manchester United’s start to a season has been the leakiest in all tournaments.

Harry Maguire’s transformation at Old Trafford has received a lot of attention, but United’s defence still needs a lot of improvement.

If United is so easy to score against, they won’t go anywhere, and goalie Andre Onana has some responsibility for that.

Onana, who advanced to the championship game with Inter Milan the previous year and was regarded as among the greatest goalkeepers in the competition, has made costly errors this season against Bayern Munich and both at home and away against Galatasaray.

Upon finishing this one, Onana was left with no choice but to pull off his gloves, toss them to the ground, and search for someone to comfort him.
