Bayern Munich target set to sign new long-term contract with Barcelona

Araujo is now among the captains of Barcelona
Bayern Munich will not be getting Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo, according to Sky Germany.
Der Rekordmeister has reportedly been pursuing the Uruguayan defender for more than two years. Nevertheless, it doesn’t appear like a deal bringing Araújo to Bavaria is imminent.
Bayern have been informed that Barcelona are eager to renew Araújo’s agreement, which will come to an end in the summer of 2026. Still, record-holders Borussia Dortmund received permission from Thomas Tuchel to try luring the 24-year-old to the Bundesliga.
Araújo, who can also cover at right-back, would provide Tuchel with the ideal answer to his defensive problems. Even said, it doesn’t seem likely that the centre-back and Bayern will make a move anytime soon despite their discussions.

After presumably missing out on Leny Yoro and determining that matching Raphaël Varane’s pay demands would be challenging, Bayern are still looking for a centre-back. They will need to find reachable recruitment targets quickly if they intend to compete in the Champions League and stay up with Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table.
Araujo, who made his first-team debut, has developed into one of Barcelona’s most important players and is currently regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He is one of Xavi’s first names when healthy, and it has long been expected that he will take over as captain.
Araujo has also consistently said that he prefers to play for Barcelona, so even if it’s likely the squad will require to complete one big sale in the summer to alleviate their financial difficulties, a transfer doesn’t appear likely.
The Uruguayan is not expected to depart the Blaugrana next campaign as they attempt to get back to the top of the table and forget about their previous Champions table struggles.
