Steven Bergwijn is courted by Saudi league
Steven Bergwijn, a former Tottenham Hotspur winger, has spoken directly to transfer rumours, stating that West Ham is among the teams purportedly intent on acquiring the Ajax player.
Ajax is currently ninth in the league after a turbulent start to the season that has seen several of its best players considered for January transfers. Dutch publication De Telegraaf [24 November] said that the Hammers had joined Saudi Arabian teams in their pursuit of the winger and linked them to a move.
On November 26, Fabrizio Romano posted the quotations on Twitter, with the Dutchman disclosing:
“You should ask my agent… Leaving Ajax in January? In football, you can never rule out anything. But I am happy here, I have my children and family here.”

In the Premier League, Bergwijn might get another chance to prove himself as West Ham looks to bolster their attacking options following injuries to Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen that highlighted a deficiency in depth at forward.
His versatility as a forward may be crucial for the Hammers as they cover for any injuries or rotations that may occur during the season. He would also provide some much-needed quality and leadership to the attack, which is occasionally deficient.
He has mostly played on the left flank for Ajax, but if the need arises, he can play across in the middle as a central attacker, just like Bowen did at the London Stadium.
In 11 games this season, Bergwijn has been able to rack up six goals and dish out two assists despite the Dutch team’s struggles thus far. This is an incredible record considering the underwhelming players surrounding him and their current low league standing.
